Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
(meets ASQ examination requirements)
WHAT IS SIX SIGMA
Six Sigma is a quality movement methodology which originated in Motorola in 1986. It became popular in the 1990’s when companies such as AlliedSignal and General Electric utilised Six Sigma to deliver their business plans.
Six Sigma is focused on eliminating process variation result in delivering customer expectations cost effectively. It applies the DMAIC methodology to systematically work through a project to deliver sustained results. Six sigma is suitable to projects when the solution is unknown. If the correct solution is known, then it is recommended to “just do it “as the six sigma approach will take time to determine correct solutions to implement. The six sigma approach also promotes fact based decisions through data analysis. The methodology also provides the methodologies to determine root causes of problems. One of the main benefits of the six sigma methodology is that there is a focus in phase 5, the Control phase, to ensure that systematic actions are implemented to ensure non reoccurrence of problems. This is the real benefit of a six sigma approach . .. sustainability.

PROGRAM AIM
The aim of this program is to provide the knowledge and skills to deliver sustained business improvements through the application of the six sigma methodology.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This course is aimed at personnel who are tasked to systematically improve business process performance through project execution.
PRE REQUISITES No previous experience required. The course will involve statistics, so a foundation in mathematics will be of benefit to candidates.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Execute process improvement projects using the defined six sigma DMAIC methodology.
- Analyse a problem to determine root cause, resulting in the elimination of root cause reoccurrence.
- Statistically analyse data thereby improving the quality of business decisions.
- Implement process controls to ensure that gains from project are sustained.
